Habakkuk: you will not believe, though it be told you.

“Behold you among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvelously: for I will work a work in your days which you will not believe, though it be told you.”

(Habakkuk 1:5)

The prophet Habakkuk exercised his prophetic ministry around the years 606-586 BC, as we recognize in history. The prophet warns in relation to the impending destruction of the Jews who fell apart with spiritual wickedness and abominations, and now they would be destroyed by the Chaldeans. Injustice prevailed at all levels of the social spheres and a devastating anger was approaching; however, the man of God does not fall short and also warned the Babylonian Empire that its day of judgment would be equally macabre; and thus happened about seventy years later, counting from the moment in which the Kingdom of Judah collapses and it is taken into a bleak captivity.

The prophet stands up in the prophetic horizon and announces that the just shall live by faith alone under the guidance of the Almighty Creator’s Holy Spirit, who will be revealed to the world’s population in a miraculous spectacle that would last forever; and to which the gates of hell never will achieve to destroy.

Consider that when the prophet specifies “Behold you among the heathen” (v.5) he refers here to the Gentiles; that is, an extraordinary event would happen––not since the days of Moses, through the wisdom of the chaldeans, persian, greek or roman philosophers––in manifesting the formation of a universal spiritual body; bearer of clear and accurate divine revelations while indicating the path of Eternal Salvation to all men, and not using customary ambiguities, but a direct product of the Verb of God’s unequivocal appearance.

Thus Habakkuk prophesied something that would happen over 600 years later: The Age of the Holy Spirit or formation of the Universal Church of Jesus Christ. Note that we are not referring to a particular institution, but to all men and women around the world who would accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, Son of God revealed by the Holy Father, Creator of all.

The Gospel of God would be preached to all nations and peoples, by disposition of the Lord when commissioning: “All power is given to me in heaven and in earth. Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost… and, see, I am with you always, even to the end of the world” (Mt 28:18-20). This mission was entrusted by the Father to the Holy Spirit, in a gigantic work that has lasted two thousand years and approaching––soon––to a close with the addition of a converted remnant from the Hebrew patriarch Abraham’s tree: the Jews. Although they still struggle and strive in their millenarian stubbornness which has brought them serious inconveniences throughout the centuries by ignoring the divine Son of Yahweh God Yeshua; he will be propitious and lovingly shall open for them those blind eyes of their souls.

The Holy Spirit, whom Jesus prophetically asseverated that: “the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatever I have said to you” (Jn 14:26; 16:7-14) would not cease in his relentless evangelizing work. When we read of the church historians from the beginning, tirelessly striving to show the world that the apostolic writings were truthful; we then wonder how many can ignore these words of the Son of God which lighten about the Spirit of God will bring every deed into memory related to his ministry on earth, and it is thanks to this they were able to write every important thing as a whole for remembrance and as a guidance to the future Christian Church.

The children of God do not need to justify themselves because of their faith before the world, but to preach the message of Salvation and Human Redemption; neither suit them to the scientific discoveries, as they must harmonize with the revealed Word, granted by the Divinity and hidden since remote times; previous to the visible creation.

Now––as prophesied the Hebrew Habakkuk––God’s Holy Spirit would move those thousands who heard Yeshua of Nazareth, reminding his ministry, to go around the world bringing the announced Good News. People always talk about the twelve apostles, albeit the Scriptures mention another 70 envoys sent by Christ with apostolic and miraculous works; to whom Jesus ordained himself (Lk 10:1-17). Add the thousands who heard him while the fish and loaves were multiplied, and the other 500 who received his final instructions and saw him rise up to the eternal heaven and which were still living as the apostle Paul wrote his Epistles.

The apostle tells us: “After that, he was seen of above five hundred brothers at once; of whom the greater part remain to this present” (1 Cor 15:6); because the Holy Spirit was actively organizing the foundations of the Church. These were future evangelists and heads of congregations spread over the surrounding world, exposing the truth and unmasking the imposters who on purpose misrepresented each fragment of the Gospel. These brothers and first Christians had their bases in cities and centers such as those in Jerusalem, Caesarea, Antioch, Rome, Edessa, Ephesus and Corinth among many others; for where two or three are gathered in the name of God’s Lamb, there rests a church (Mt 18:19-20), like it or not those who strive to impose their doctrinal edifices, as if we were in need of a safe-conduct in order to receive celestial recognition. It is the Congregation or Church of all who would believe in the Lord’s work (Acts 13:41-42, 47) until the Second Coming of the Messiah Redeemer.

It is therefore our aim not to impress the readers with intricate words, as an intelligible labyrinth; neither to walk inflated and philosophizing to impress those who are always excited in their showbiz with unfounded mysteries; but our language is clear, simple, of easy access and understanding.
