Yahweh, Yahve, Yave, Jahve y Jehovah.

by Alejandro Roque Glez.
Minor Prophets of the Old Testament at Alejandro's Libros

The name of God comes from the Tetragrammaton YHWH. The pronunciation of Yahweh, Yahve or Jehovah, arises from the fact that unless they added vowels to these consonants it is impossible to pronounce them. Over the years the Jews lost, under fear of using God’s name in vain, the sound and right pronunciation. Jehovah specifically comes from the use of Adonai––which means Lord––and those vowels added to the consonants YHVH produce the sound closer to Jehovah, originally initiated in 1518 by Pedro Galatino, the confessor of Pope Leo X; albeit modern and rabbinical research agree that such pronunciation should be approached more to: Yahweh, Yahvé, Yavé, o Jahvé. In this book we use the pronunciation Yahweh, which is the English version, because in turn it includes the four consonants YHWH, and hence more informative considering also that the English language is a sort of international. The consonants of the Tetragrammaton YHWH or YHVH––God’s revealed name––means “I am who I am” (Ex 3:14).

(What will life be on our planet once the Lord fulfills the promise of his coming? If interested, you can read it in the form of a literary narrative, recreated in the author's book entitled: 'The King Victorino').

[These and other Old Testament prophecies are explicatively compiled in the author's book entitled: 'Minor Prophets of the Old Testament;' in print and digital editions]
