Aaron and the testimony of his sons.

“And the holy garments of Aaron shall be his sons’ after him, to be anointed therein. And that son that is priest in his stead shall put them on seven days when he comes into the tabernacle of the congregation… seven days shall you consecrate them… seven days you shall make an atonement for the altar, and sanctify it…”

(Exodus 29:29-30, 35, 37)

To sanctify means to set apart for God’s service, consecrating a person, thing, or group for a specific mission that will require sacrifices from generation to generation; constancy, patience and perseverance, no matter the consequences or troubled storms that could arise along the way.

The priest Aaron and his sons, representing Israel, were consecrated to God and to serve for 7 Times or Millennia (7 celestial days), to provide a service to God benefiting mankind as a whole.

The System 7 is repeated pointing out seven times over humanity; but here it specifies about during all those periods the descendants of Aaron would serve as witnesses to the world.

Thus it has been, because through them––the Hebrew people––we got the written Word of God, his promises, judgments, and testimonies are still a reflection on the fulfillment of Sacred History, which still continues its course until the consummation of times and epochs.

Sometimes we felt they were not worthy of such entrust, but the truth is what we think as sublime, may be an abomination to God (Lk 16:15); equally God usually humbles the ones believed best with the other ones taken as nothing; reason why he then tells Israel they had not been chosen because of being not even near the best––but just the opposite––a group so insignificant in the surrounding world (Dt 7:7), compose at certain moment with only seventy people in much needs who descended to Egypt (Dt 10:22); albeit now sanctified to preserve the Holy Scriptures during the millennia that lay ahead, as guardians of the project which would be revealed by the Creator.

In Israel we see the composition and nature of humans, and their relationship with the Creator of heaven and earth. Always rebelling, going against his will, thinking to be exceptionals, thus creating enough envy in their boundaries––often unjustified––so instigating the barbarians of violence and slaughter. However, God has been with them due to such promise made to patriarch Abraham, because Yahweh does not break, like humans, his promises and covenants, and still have compassion on them, as seen by the apostle Paul when he foretold, while dwelling among us:

“For I would not, brothers, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my covenant to them, when I shall take away their sins” (Rom 11:25-27).

As we see in the Book of Revelation 144 000 of them (Rev 7:3-8), representing the seed of Jacob that subsequently would flourish in abundance, will be converted and added to the whole people of God, the Israel of God which does not distinguish races but creed (Gal 6:16); because the Lord always has a remnant among his elects (Is 37:31-32), and those who are children due to the promise are counted as the seed too (Rom 9:8).

Israel’s history has been marked by pain, but the Word of God, which is living, active, and sharper than any two-edged sword (Heb 4:12), reveals about the pain coming from him produces yearning of repentance that works toward Salvation; in contrast to the pain that lurks in the human century, leading only to death without hope, the passage into a dark world of indescribable sufferings with no possible retreat, at least in the short term (2 Cor 7:10).

Aaron and his sons, between rebellions and tears, have managed to preserve their lineage, prepare the way for the birth and Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, and also preserve the Holy Scriptures as a guide and witness to the nations; and therefore, for that we are eternally grateful.
