My Chosen One will not fail nor be discouraged.

“Behold my servant, whom I uphold; my elect, in whom my soul delights; I have put my spirit on him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles… he shall bring forth judgment to truth… he shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law... I Yahweh have called you… and give you for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; to open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house. I Yahweh: that is my name; and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images… hear, you deaf; and look, you blind, that you may see... Yahweh is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honorable.”

(Isaiah 42: 1-10, 18-21)

Isaiah prophesies the Messiah of God 700 years before its appearance and ministry in Galilee. And speaking of Galilee––before proceeding with the analysis of this passage––and as a peculiar point we always see that when the apostles were fishing in the presence of Jesus, the fishes brought into the fishing net numerically represented a message from God.

Once Jesus rose from death decided––as usually he had done––to leave a message about who he is before God and men, in each of his actions; it did not matter how insignificant they seemed. Once appeared to the twelve apostles, and before warning Peter about the need to spread abroad and preach the Gospel to the nations and care for his sheep; he appears to them while they were fishing in the lake of Galilee, near the town of Tiberias, then Jesus tells them: “Bring of the fish which you have now caught. Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three; and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken” (Jn 21:10-11).

They still doubted whether it was Jesus who miraculously again filled with many fishes their net from the shore; nevertheless, what they did not imagine due to their ignorance––as today many Jewish rabbis still are drowned in it––is that in the number of fishes is where it was the true message. The Hebrew language, like others, has numbers meaning each one an equivalent letter. Well, if we take the figure ‘153;’ that is, the amount of emerged fishes product of the miracle, and we compare it with the written alphabet, then it means and translates as: ‘I am the Lord your God.’

The Nazarene is always trying to approach us in a thousand ways, but we are so ungrateful, immersed in our ego that we can’t see, and instead gropingly go like blind. And how many in the world are blind giving advises to others as blind as them!

The servant of God here––in this quote from the prophet Isaiah––represents Jesus Christ, who would come into this world as the fulfillment of the Divine Plan. His redemptive work of the Cross would reach not only the Jewish people, but to all people of the earth (v.4, 6) that accept him as their Lord and Savior.

He will rule the nations (Rev 19:15) until establishing justice on earth (v.4), exposing the truth of God, opening the eyes of the blind, twisted ones, and ignorants of this world, drawing out from prison of darkness to those who through trepidation of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage in an existential fear and diabolic servitude (Heb 2:14-15); including his unequivocal mention about the false gods and idolatry of sculptures created by the imagination or overwhelming religions, which have imposed their own laws and doctrines, as a precondition to even enter heaven itself.

God was pleased with him (v.21) and put him as the Light of men (Jn 1:9, 18)––and contrary to what many preachers have preached––he did not come to abolish the law of commandments (only the ritual part); but Yahweh decided to extol him in such a way that he commended and magnified the Law of God (Mt 5:17-19), through his Christian Gospel.

If you believe the Gospel is less stringent than that holy Law, then you have not clearly grasped the message from the Creator of heaven and earth. Forgiveness and mercy come through the work of Calvary, and the voluntary atoning sacrifice of God’s Son; however, like any legal system, God has a Law, which is holy, and will govern the life of humans.

That Law has been magnified and multiplied, but not changed; for God––unlike humans––does not change according to the time, fashions, or streams of thoughts,but he remains the same from eternity to eternity.
