They will be pilgrims on the earth.

“And he said to Abram: know of a surety that your seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; and also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance. And you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried in a good old age. But in the fourth generation they shall come here again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.”

(Genesis 15:13-16)

This prophecy that Yahweh God reveals to the patriarch, is but the announcement of what would transpire over the next 400-500 years to the people of Israel descendant from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

The descendants of Abraham peregrinated under the jurisdiction of Egypt as an international power and Empire about 430 years (Ex 12:40), and of these about 215 years––from 2238 to 2453 of Creation––specifically in Egypt, once Jacob recognizes that on his son Joseph; who was alive and he went down to Egypt to meet him (45:9, 28, 46:27).

This promise, as we will continue calculating hereafter, was given to Abraham around the year 2023 since Creation. In the fourth generation from the existence of the aged Abraham and under the command of Joshua (Dt 31:1-8; Jos 1:9), the Hebrew people returned to the land of Canaan in the Middle East; evicting and finishing by direct God’s command the Amorites and other peoples who lived there, which were infested––as it is revealed––with much evil, murderous savages idolatries, and immoralities to inconceivable extremes; thus taking as an everlasting possession the land that is now called Palestine for the Philistines who then lived there.

It is considered quite possible that Abraham’s visit to Egypt occurred under the Pharaonic Dynasty number 12 of Pharaoh Senusert II; the Dynasty 16 for Joseph’s time, and the 18th Dynasty in the time of Moses; but this is only an approximation using Egyptian chronology.

Thus Abraham entered into Egypt in 2023, and adding the 430 years that Israel lasted there until they were gone, it all gives us the result toward the year 2453 since Creation. Jacob came to Egypt in 2238. If we subtract 2238-2453=215 years when Israel was actually in Egyptian ground, but generally 430 years of wandering in the area and specifically 400 of them under the jurisdiction of Egypt as the unique world power.

God’s people family, contrary to what many imagine and if we follow the biblical chronology, met each other enough time enabling them to transmit everything in oral and written tablets; about all developments since the very Creation.

When Noah died in the year 2006 of Creation, the patriarch Abraham was 58 years old, so he could listen through the mouth of his ancestor the Flood story and events that caused it. But not only that: Shem, who was born in 1558 and died in 2158, lived before and after his grandson Abraham died. After Abraham’s death in the year 2123 since the Creation, Shem yet lived another 35 years.

Once done this calculation we can see that Isaac could hear directly from his forefather Shem all the stories about Noah, the Creation and world governments; for when Shem died in the year 2158 Isaac was 110 years old; plenty of time to visit Shem, sit close and listen all related to the documentation of history. And if that is not enough, Jacob––Israel––also met Shem, since the day of his death, when he and his father Isaac were likely to bury him; Jacob already had spent 50 years of life. When his grandfather Abraham dies Jacob was 15 years old, so he met him, talked, and played with his grandfather for a long time until the moment of his earthly farewell.

Once we analyze all this chronology the biblical story turns more interesting, because we see how the family chosen by the Creator to give us the recounts of history until today had been known each other well enough to be accurate and truthful.
