I will cover the earth with darkness in clear day.

Minor Prophets of the Old Testament at Alejandro's Libros

The prophet Amos pursued his prophetic ministry approximately over the years 780-740 BC, while in northern reigned Jeroboam II, and king Uzziah in the south. The prophet lived in the Kingdom of Judah, and he was a heavy load for the ears of his fellow citizens as well as the ones in the north, telling them to better amend their ways before God or risk being reprimanded due to so many iniquities, corruption and injustices, while believed themselves safe because of their material prosperity; and even later as a sign––once Uzziah, the king in the south is struck with leprosy for his temerity in violating God’s Temple––Israel is the victim of an earthquake (1:1). The prophet also foretells the punishment that would come upon the neighbors around Israel, and this is where he rises up into history and also announces the End Times.

When the prophet Amos declares by the Holy Spirit: “I will darken the earth in the clear day,” he was looking forward up to 800 years ahead of his time––about 30 AD, considering the inaccurate calendar––at the time when the Lord Jesus Christ, after being crucified, would give his spirit.

All prophets have foretold us about such a day, along with the Millenarian Kingdom that is followed, and of which we have written in the interpretation to the Book of Revelation. Read also our book entitled: 'The King Victorino.' The blessing under that Kingdom will be extraordinary, and the earth will bear fruit without much effort, compared to the sweat off our faces release now in order to merit it; but behold, the days come, said Yahweh, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that sows seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt” (9:13).

The prophet Amos warns us that this would not happen until the people of Israel as a whole––according to the divine count––would be back in their nation, when he says: And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel” (9:14). As aforementioned, the process began in 1948 when the state of Israel was founded once ended the Second World War, and continues to this day, culminating after the end of the now close Third World War. Read the literary novel entitled: 'The Great Peacemaker from Hell.'

[This and other Old Testament prophecies are explicatively compiled in the author's book entitled: 'Minor Prophets of the Old Testament;' in print and digital edition]
