The Great Tribulation.

“And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that makes desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. Blessed is he that waits, and comes to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. But go you your way till the end be: for you shall rest, and stand in your lot at the end of the days.”

(Daniel 12:11-13)

To better understand this prophecy must firstly consider that he is talking here about the End Time (v.6). Second, as discussed in note to Ezekiel, chapters 40-48, the Temple of Jerusalem in nearby date must be rebuilt.

The time “that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away” (v.11), means that once the Temple is rebuilt, it will receive again sacrifices (Ez 43:25); however, the appearance of the Antichrist, their expected false messiah, going to the temple and sitting in it imitating the Savior; it is a fact which will help for the Jews to understand who he really is: this arrogant and manipulative devilishly possessed individual. God will make descend upon them in his infinite grace and mercy, the Holy Spirit, showing them the true Messiah Jesus Christ; bringing with it much Hebrew tears of repentance, to painfully acknowledge ever having ignored and belittled him like a never admitted bastard (Is 14: 10, 25:8-9).

Once this had happened the Temple sacrifice would no longer be justified; having God allowed it simply to move them out of such absorbent secularism now suffering the Jewish society; organizing them around their traditions and thus be able to show––in an epoch happening similar to the time of Jesus––about how wrong they have been and why the wicked resulting cost to them throughout history by denying the true Son of God.

Next 1290 days will elapse then (v.11), which is 3 ½ years and twelve days––half of Daniel last week which we already analyzed––or similarly the equivalent to 42 months and twelve days (Rev 13:5): time the Antichrist will exercise its repressive power against the holy people, constantly treading the city of Jerusalem (Rev 11:2). It will be a time of Great Tribulation not only in Israel but in the world, and the Christians converted during those years, will be despised and blamed for the situation (Rev 13:17); nevertheless, you must know that there is nothing to fear, because we are assured: “And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come” (1 Thess 1:10).

The persecution of Christians has never stopped in history. Since 2009-10 and then repeating, over 150,000 Christians were killed worldwide product of persecutions, attacks, massacres, and other social symptoms, but the secular press does not publish it; and in Western countries––furthermore in the developed ones––they begin to be displaced and discriminated against for their beliefs that are considered bigoted if made notorious. This will continue to increase rapidly, and for those who will be present during the Great Tribulation, here a time the prophet Daniel mentions in his prophecy, the apostle John, two thousand years ago by revelation predicted (for those coming years) referring to the hordes of the world dictator: “these shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful” (Rev 17:14).

The Third World War that will begin staggered, mainly in the Middle East and the land of Israel (Rev 16:14, 16), bringing a dreadful abomination, according to the prophet Daniel (v.11), and viewed through news agencies and television fitted over the city of Jerusalem (Mt 24:15, 21); shall then culminate with a period of about forty-five days under natural disasters from God, affecting all nations (Rev 6:8-17, 8:5-13). The forty-five days is the difference between the 1290 days (v.11), and 1335 days (v.12).

It is the thrill that precedes a new beginning: to build a society from the basic foundation since Creation, and as is well known, the gold needs to be put under fire in order to become purified,and also the world will––between nuclear unloadings and disasters––parched and burned with fire (2 Pet 3:10), followed by the majestic appearance of the Son of God in all his majesty and glory, “for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son… with power and great glory… and when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws near” (Lk 21:25-28).
